Spectrum Students, Families, and Community Members,

We are pleased to report that we continue to be on track with our plans to reopen for individual sessions in September! While things might look a little different when we resume, we are so excited to welcome our students back to our community space!

We know that September is an exceptionally busy month for many of our families. As we plan ahead, we want to make sure to keep you updated on the steps our team is taking to help students transition into this next phase.

Scheduling sessions

Currently, our team is in the process of connecting with all students regarding plans for this upcoming Fall.

If you are interested in setting up in-person sessions: Your provider will schedule a time to meet with you by phone to review our updated safety policies and procedures. After that meeting, our office manager will send along updated paperwork to be completed. Once that paperwork is submitted, your provider will work with you to schedule your Fall sessions.

If you are interested in continuing remotely: Your provider will connect with you to begin scheduling virtual sessions for Fall.

*A note about scheduling: Please note that we will do our best to accommodate schedule preferences. Our providers will be working to balance many additional factors, such as space limitations and extra cleaning time, as they piece together their Fall schedules. Your patience and flexibility is appreciated!

Students will be scheduled for in-person sessions as soon as paperwork is submitted. Due to significant space limitations, appointments will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

Spectrum Closed September 4th

As we make final preparations to reopen the space, we will be using Friday, September 4th as a staff development day. All sessions and classes will be canceled.

An Update About Our Price Increase

In our most recent survey to our students and families, we noted that there would be a price increase for in-person sessions. In the interest of transparency, we wanted to share our rationale behind this increase, as we know this impacts some of our students.

Over the past six months, our team has been researching options for how we can safely accomodate our students and families in our space. In order to reopen in a way that prioritizes student safety, we’ve needed to make a significant amount of changes to the way we operate. Some of these include:

  • Increased staffing associated with space sanitization and maintenance
  • PPE for staff and space
  • Additional cleaning supplies
  • Increasing inventory of instruments/art supplies to avoid communal use

These additional expenses were not things we needed to account for prior to COVID-19, but are now essential to our ability to safely reopen.

We recognize that we are certainly not the only ones hit financially by this crisis, and want to make sure families have the option to choose a format of service that best fits their needs. We plan to continue to offer virtual sessions as an option for any family that wishes to stay remote. There will be no price increase for virtual sessions.

We know that the changes we have to make for the fall out of necessity may be challenging. We are endlessly grateful for the continued support and encouragement you’ve all provided over the last six months.

For those of you returning in-person: We are so excited to see you!

For those of you continuing remotely: Thank you for learning new things so we can continue working together!

For those taking a break: We’re thinking about you, and looking forward to when we are able to reconnect!

Artistically Yours,

The Spectrum Team
