At Spectrum Creative Arts, we believe that every individual deserves access to creative tools that support communication, self-expression, and meaningful participation in the arts. Thanks to the generous support of the Monroe County Arts Grant Program, we were able to expand those opportunities in exciting new ways.

In 2025, Spectrum Creative Arts was honored to receive funding through the Monroe County Arts Grant. These funds allowed us to purchase a fleet of iPads that are now used daily by our therapists and educators across our clinic and school-based programs.

The new technology has become an invaluable part of our work, helping clients of all ages and abilities engage more fully in creative experiences. The iPads support a wide range of therapeutic and educational goals, including:

  • Accessible communication through augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) applications
  • Songwriting and music creation using digital composition and recording tools
  • Art-making through accessible drawing, painting, and multimedia applications
  • Music production and recording that allows clients to create and share original work
  • Choice-making and self-expression by providing visual supports and interactive decision-making tools
  • Increased independence and participation for individuals with diverse communication, physical, and cognitive needs

These devices have already transformed countless sessions. Whether a student is selecting a favorite song using an AAC app, composing an original piece of music, creating digital artwork, or recording a performance they are proud of, the technology helps remove barriers and empowers individuals to participate in ways that were not previously possible.

The impact extends beyond individual sessions. By equipping our therapists with portable, accessible technology, we are able to bring these creative opportunities directly into schools and community settings throughout Monroe County, ensuring that more individuals can benefit from inclusive arts experiences.

We are deeply grateful to Monroe County for investing in arts accessibility and helping us expand opportunities for the individuals and families we serve. This support is making a lasting difference every day.

Thank you, Monroe County, for supporting creativity, accessibility, and inclusive arts experiences in our community!
