Spectrum students, families, caregivers, and extended community,

Following the local declaration of a State of Emergency today in Monroe County, Spectrum Creative Arts will be closed to students beginning Monday, March 16 until further notice.

Spectrum’s decision to close aligns with the recent closure of Monroe County schools, a determination that is made in an effort to reduce the amount of exposure to the COVID-19 virus within our community. Spectrum is participating in this precautionary measure to do our part to protect our students and community, and the health and safety of our students and team will continue to be a priority in all of our decision-making processes.

Introducing Virtual Sessions:

While the Spectrum facility will be closed to students, we will be offering virtual, online individual sessions and lessons for any interested students. A member of the Spectrum team will be following up with all individual students this week to talk more about this new model, and help determine next steps during this closure. We are optimistic that this virtual model will provide the continuity that Spectrum is passionate about preserving for our students, while also providing a health-conscious alternative to our more “traditional” in-person session format.

Details regarding a timeline for the re-opening of our clinic and in-person sessions will be communicated to students and caregivers as information becomes available. We will be determining any developments regarding our re-opening per recommendations by the CDC, NYS Department of Health, and the Monroe County Department of Health. We will be re-evaluating the state of Spectrum’s closure on a weekly basis, and will communicate status updates to students and our community by Friday each week.

We appreciate your support and patience as we work together to navigate next best steps during these challenging times. We are passionate about providing ongoing creative experiences to our community whenever and however possible, and appreciate your openness and flexibility in exploring this virtual session model with us. We anticipate that there will be questions from our community as we proceed with this virtual model, so please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you have as we work together to explore creative solutions. Please know that the health and safety of our students, team, and community are at the forefront of all of our decisions as an organization, and we will continue to proceed with those considerations close in mind.

All the best,

Megan, Noa, and Wade
