Although we’ve been apart these past few months, our Spectrum community has continued to use the creative arts as a way to stay connected. We have been so impressed with the resilience and creativity we’ve seen in our students with this transition. This week we are thrilled to feature Shayna V!

Shayna is a talented musician who has been playing the flute for many years. In her virtual sessions, she has been working on exploring the high and low notes, following the direction of a familiar melody. She loves to sing her melody first and trying to match those pitches in her head as she plays. Great job Shayna on playing the familiar melody of Brahms lullaby so beautifully.

Before sharing this video, Molly asked Shayna to share some of her thoughts about this piece:

What about this song do you enjoy?
“I like how it is relaxing. It is a really beautiful song.

”What did you find challenging about this song?
“The flute is a beautiful instrument but it is hard to play. This song has high and low notes that move around a lot. .

”What do you like about Spectrum Creative Arts?”
“I love everybody at Spectrum. I miss seeing everybody when I go there.”
