Although we’ve been apart these past few months, our Spectrum community has continued to use the creative arts as a way to stay connected. We have been so impressed with the resilience and creativity we’ve seen in our students with this transition, and thought this was a perfect time to renew our popular “Student Spotlight” series! Each week, we’ll be highlighting a Spectrum Creative Arts student and sharing a snippet of their current work.

We’re thrilled to be featuring long-time Spectrum student, Hollyn, and her original composition titled, “Confident.” In her weekly virtual sessions, Hollyn works with both Noa and music therapy intern, Zoe, on a wide variety of creative endeavors including acting skills, vocal and piano study, and songwriting.

In Hollyn’s work with Zoe, they began to uncover Hollyn’s personal definition of the term “confident” as it relates to her view of herself, the people in her social circles, and the world around her. From the lyrics to the musical accompaniment, Hollyn led the songwriting experience with her trademarked enthusiasm and creativity, yielding a song composition that she is proud to share with others.

Check out Hollyn’s take on what it means to be “confident” in this beautiful piece!
