Class Expectations

For all of our group programming, we strive to create a culture of warmth and belonging for all who participate. To create an environment all students can enjoy, we expect that students enrolled in group classes are able to participate at a level that does not detract from the experience of the rest of the group participants.

Any student considering enrolling in one of our group classes should have basic class readiness skills, including listening, following directions, use of respectful language, and recognition of the personal and physical boundaries of instructors and peers. Students who benefit from individualized support for self-regulation or behavioral needs are welcome to participate in our group classes with the provision of a caregiver-arranged support provider. We ask that caregivers of students that require assistance for hygiene-related self-care make arrangements to support related needs.

Any group participant that requires additional support (as mentioned above) must be under the direct supervision of their caregiver or support staff while on-site at Spectrum: this includes before, during, and after their scheduled group programming.

Aligned with our mission and values as an organization, we are committed to creating an accessible and inclusive environment for our students, caregivers, and staff alike. Those not contributing to our culture of warmth and belonging will be asked to change their behavior to better support the environment, or be asked to leave.

Frequently Asked Questions

Therapy services are directed towards meeting very specific, and [most often] non-artistic goals – such as developing social skills, reducing anxiety, or supporting academic material. Our therapists assess each client individually, as well as document progress on set goals and objectives.

Our individual lessons are personally tailored to best support each of our students’ unique learning styles, and taught by one of our highly-qualified music or art instructors. From students who are responsive to more traditional creative arts instruction practices, to learners who require additional supports in the learning and skill acquisition process, Spectrum’s instructors specialize in adapting teaching approaches for many different learning styles.
