About the Class

Rainbow Riot is a music group for queer teens and allies ages 13–17 who want a space where they can be fully themselves while making loud, meaningful music together. Rooted in the sounds of alt, rock, grunge, and emo, this group is designed to be an inclusive, affirming environment where identity, creativity, and community come first.

Participants will work together in a hands-on band setting, exploring instruments such as electric guitar, bass, keyboard, and drumset while learning how to play, jam, and build songs as a group. No prior band experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to try something new.

More than a music class, Rainbow Riot is a space for self-expression, empowerment, and social connection. Through collaborative music-making, participants will build confidence, explore their musical voice, and connect with other teens who share a love for alternative music and a commitment to creating a supportive community.

All identities are welcome.
