This class will incorporate a variety of student interests including drawing, painting, journaling, storytelling, and poetry. Each week, students will be presented with creative prompts to work on collaborative group projects at home using their favorite materials. Students will be given opportunities to make choices to express their ideas related to each week’s topic, such as choosing and drawing a favorite costume for a short story about a costume party, or creating a mad libs poem as a group for each student to illustrate and share with their classmates. Whether students prefer paper and pencil, paints, or a tablet, students will contribute to group projects by making choices and creating illustrations to share. Projects will be inclusive of all students’ communication styles and artistic preferences with guided prompts as needed to create and share with one another’s collections of art, poetry, and short stories.
