Dear Spectrum students and families,

We recognize that there is a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the upcoming Fall, especially when it comes to committing to in-person group programming given the ever changing nature of the pandemic. We remain committed to finding creative solutions to continue providing access to the arts amidst the many obstacles our community continues to face. It is our mission to make sure that we continue to offer engaging and accessible programming in a way that also prioritizes everyone’s health and safety.

In that vein, we are proactively making adjustments to the formats of some of our Fall group classes to provide options (when possible) for students to participate in a class virtually or in-person. Our goal is to provide opportunities for everyone to participate in group classes in the manner they are most comfortable.

Group Classes with Two Instructors

We are offering virtual or in-person participation options for the following Fall group classes with two instructors:

  • Music Ensemble
  • Upbeat Social (Tuesday class)
  • Ignite
  • Prep for Performance
  • Good Vibes Choir
  • Jam Connections
  • Breathe to the Beat

For these select classes, we will have two instructors available to make sure that content is accessible and meaningful for students participating virtually or in-person. To get classes started, we are asking that students select virtual or in-person when enrolling — however, students will be able to change how they attend (virtual or in-person) at any point in the semester to allow for flexibility in responding to any changes that may arise and align best with their personal preferences.

Group Classes with One Instructor

For the following Fall group classes, we will be reaching out to registrants to assess whether students prefer virtual or in-person participation to collaboratively determine the class format:

  • Open Art (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday classes)
  • Crafty Creatives (Tuesday and Thursday classes)
  • Guitar Group
  • Upbeat Social (Virtual Monday class)
  • Creative Wellness
  • Screen & Script
  • My Stage Musical Theatre

Our current policy surrounding masking remains that we are recommending that everyone attending in-person programming wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status.

We will include this update on our website’s “Group Classes” page. When registering, you may indicate whether you wish to participate in-person, virtually, or either on the online form.

Having consistent access to meaningful programming is incredibly important to us as an organization. We hope that offering flexible participation options for our group classes this Fall will help to ensure that consistency for students amidst the constant changes we are all facing.

As always, we thank you for your patience, flexibility, and ongoing support as we all continue to navigate this challenging time together.

All the best,

The Spectrum Team
