Interview with Temeka
How did you pick this song and why are you singing it?
“I picked this song after we got the class’ semester theme Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame Legends. After brainstorming a bunch of different songs and artists, I thought this would be a fun song to sing. I like this song because while I was learning it, I like to think the lyrics talk about ‘Proud Mary’ as a confident and independent woman, who was able to leave a place she was unhappy and go somewhere else she could be happy.”
What do you like about Spectrum Creative Arts?
“I love Spectrum because I have really great instructors for my classes and lessons. I also love coming to class and listening to my friends sing and play their songs, as well as get to hangout with them outside of class. While I’m waiting for my lesson or class to start, I’m able to talk with students, parents, and other staff that are a part of Spectrum.”
What are your thoughts about Spectrum’s virtual sessions/livestreams?
“I love them! Even though we are in a place we are not able to go or see one another, I think it is great to still be able to do our lessons. The livestreams are so much fun to hear other Spectrum staff sing and play, and can interact with everyone through the comments! It feels like you’re actually in the same room as them like it used to be.”
What would you say to someone who is thinking about coming to Spectrum?
“I would say you will enjoy yourself if you are really into music. You will learn so much and have fun with the staff, students, and families at Spectrum and I know you will make a lot of new friends like I did.
