In the past 6 years, Spectrum has become home to an amazing team of instructors, therapists, and administrative professionals who are passionate about making Spectrum an awesome place to explore the arts! Our team is what makes the magic happen here, and we are proud to work alongside such talented individuals! In this new series, we’ll be highlighting a member of our team and sharing a little bit of their personal journey into the arts.

This month, we’re so excited to feature art instructor, Liz Pritchard!

Hello everyone!
My name is Liz Pritchard.

I joined Spectrum Creative Arts’ team as an Art Instructor in September 2019. Art is a healthy means of expression, and a powerful vehicle for connecting with oneself and others.
I’m also a comic book artist, autism and disability rights advocate, and an ANCA World Ambassador. I’ve always loved to draw, and eight years ago, I started drawing a comic about my feelings and experiences with being on the autism spectrum. My passions and the connections I’ve made through art have led me to amazing people that I still have contact with to this very day. My art has taken me to Taiwan, Mexico, Canada, and the Philippines.

I feel that your relationship with yourself is super important and serves as a foundation for establishing uplifting and positive connections with others. By pushing myself out of my comfort zone, I’ve encountered new passions and learned a lot about myself in the process. Trying new experiences can be really overwhelming, but these challenges I’ve come across have shown me that I’m much stronger than I think I am.

I want everyone to know that they can definitely be who they want to be, regardless of labels. We are all unique and all of us are also human – once you find the right support that works for you, and you can channel your unique passion and creativity, nothing can hold you back.

Fun facts about me:

I love collecting groovy and stylistic pairs of sunglasses! I currently have 13 pairs of unique glasses. I’m also a huge fan of Elton John’s music. My favorite place I’ve been to so far is Taipei, Taiwan. I love Pokemon, and collect a bunch of merchandise from the show! My favorite artwork is the “Infinity Mirror Room” by Yayoi Kusama.
