In the past 5 years, Spectrum has become home to an amazing team of instructors, therapists, and administrative professionals who are passionate about making Spectrum an awesome place to explore the arts! Our team is what makes the magic happen here, and we are proud to work alongside such talented individuals! In this new series, we’ll be highlighting a member of our team and sharing a little bit of their personal journey into the arts.

This month, we’re so excited to feature our former intern and brand new MT-BC, Ryan Davis!

I’m very excited to be joining the Spectrum team as a board-certified music therapist for the 2019/2020 school year! I graduated from SUNY Fredonia with a B.S in Music Therapy and completed my internship at Spectrum this past May. One of my favorite parts about my work here is connecting with so many clients who share my passion and love for music.

I first learned about music therapy in high school, right before I graduated. I had the opportunity to shadow a school music therapist and knew immediately that this is what I wanted to do as a career. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work in various settings such as school districts, community centers, group homes, and more!

My primary instrument is voice, but I also enjoy exploring trumpet, acoustic/electric guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, piano and percussion. In college, I performed in various choral and a cappella groups, and even performed in a couple operas! I love how music therapy allows me to explore different styles and techniques with my students.
